The Dharma of Nature
A dana (donation) based retreat

Location: Shelterwood Collective, Cazadero (CA).
Teachers: Marjolein Janssen and Dawn Neal.
Dates: May 23 – May 27, 2024.

Immerse yourself in the embrace of nature as you embark on a transformative journey. This outdoor silent meditation retreat offers a unique opportunity to explore the profound teachings of the Dharma while surrounded by the beauty of the natural world. Set against the backdrop of the beautiful pine forests of the Shelterwood Collective, this retreat is designed to deepen your connection with both the teachings of Buddhism and the inherent wisdom found in the natural environment.

Each day there will be deepening meditation sessions supported by sensory immersion in nature. We will be cultivating mindfulness and presence through connecting with the ancient Buddhist elemental qualities of nature: earth, water, fire, air and space.

Explore the profound teachings of Buddhism and discover how they align with the inherent wisdom found in the natural world. There will be a Dharma talk and time for questions.

We will also engage in daily work meditations. This allows participants to practice and to serve the community – the Sangha.

Please note that the retreat is held in “noble silence” in the tradition of Insight (Vipassana) meditation. This includes during the daily work meditations.

There will be optional movement and / or walking meditation every day. This is an opportunity to connect with the earth beneath your feet and the rhythmic pace of your breath as you traverse the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

Delight your senses with nourishing and delicious vegetarian meals prepared mindfully. Explore the practice of mindful eating as a way to cultivate gratitude and awareness.

Who Should Attend: This retreat is open to individuals of all genders, all sexual orientations, all ethnicities, all backgrounds, and all levels of experience with Buddhism. “The Dharma of Nature” retreat welcomes those interested in connection with nature, and a deeper understanding of the Dharma.

Join us for a transformative journey as we explore the interconnection between the Dharma and the natural world, cultivating wisdom and inviting greater freedom.
